Porsche 911 - rear- or all-wheel drive sports coupe. World premiere of the eighth generation of the 911 (series 992) took place in November 2018 in Los Angeles.

The new 911 shows design continuity from the outgoing Porsche 911 in the 991 series. However, there are many features that endow the new member of the legendary Porsche sports car family with a charisma that combines classic influences with modern trends. The front of the body has become wider by 45 mm. Between the new LED headlights, a recessed hood is installed - a reference to the design of the first generations of the Porsche 911. The door handles have become retractable, the bumpers and wheel arches have been made more massive, the taillights have been connected by a thin LED strip, and a third brake light has appeared under the rear window, which consists of two vertical stripes.

The Porsche 911 992 series comes standard with 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the rear. All exterior panels of the car, except for the front and rear parts, are made of aluminum.

The interior of the Porsche 911 eighth iteration is characterized by straight lines, reminiscent of the 911 model of the 1970s. But the most noticeable elements of the cabin were a new instrument cluster with a large tachometer in the center and two customizable displays on the sides, and a touchscreen display of the PCM multimedia complex. The diagonal of the latter has been increased from 7 to 10.9 inches, while the system has become more responsive and has acquired new features.

Wet driving mode (Porsche Wet) was included as standard. When water is detected on the road, the vehicle's on-board systems go into a state of readiness for poor traction with asphalt and warn the driver. Once alerted, the driver can increase safety by pressing a button or using the mode switches on the steering wheel (with the Sport Chrono package).

For the model, adaptive cruise control with start-stop function is available, as well as a warning and braking assistance system. Such a system recognizes the threat of a collision with moving objects, and, if necessary, applies the brakes. In addition, for the first time, a night vision system with a thermal imager has entered the list of options for the Porsche 911.

The rear-wheel drive Porsche 911 Carrera S and the all-wheel drive Porsche 911 Carrera 4S are equipped with an upgraded 3.0-liter biturbo engine, which debuted on the previous series cars: it has new turbochargers and a charge air cooling system, as well as a different injection system, a new aluminum exhaust manifold and a diesel particulate filter motors. As a result of improvements, the power of the gasoline unit increased from 420 to 450 hp.

The six-cylinder engine in the Porsche 911 Carrera S and Carrera 4S is paired with the new 8-speed PDK preselective transmission that Porsche developed with ZF. The rear-wheel drive coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, while the all-wheel drive coupe takes 3.6 seconds. Thus, compared to their predecessors, both models from the new generation shoot from standstill to the first “hundred” 0.4 seconds faster. And with the optional Sport Chrono package, acceleration performance improves by another 0.2 seconds.

The Porsche 911 is produced in Germany. The start of sales of the 992 series is scheduled for mid-2019.
